Denver Pampers Homeless With Free Movie Tickets

Denver Pampers Homeless With Free Movie Tickets

By Robert Paul Reyes

San Francisco, my hometown, is the most beautiful and scenic city in the world. In the City by the Bay, you will see cable cars climbing halfway to the stars, the fog creeping in over the Golden Gate and the homeless defecating, urinating and shooting up in the downtown streets.

I`m a liberal and I always speak up for the poor and the disenfranchised, but I have little sympathy for the homeless. They are an eyesore and blight on the urban landscape, these slackers litter the streets with condoms, syringes, feces and cigarette butts.

San Francisco has a laissez-faire attitude toward the homeless, and as a result it has become a Mecca for losers, drug addicts, alcoholics and other scum who are unwilling to work.

I know that there are mentally-ill individuals, shell-shocked veterans and victims of Bush`s failed economy who are amongst the homeless, but they are a minority. Most of the homeless are able-bodied, young persons who are too wasted and lazy to look for a job.

W should stop pampering the homeless; they don`t need a helping hand as much as they need a kick in the ass. Which brings me to this article about how Denver is treating the homeless:

"Hundreds of Denver`s homeless could be cooling their heels in a movie theater or museum while the Democratic National Convention is in town next month.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless plans to get 500 movie tickets as well as passes to the Denver Zoo, Denver Museum of Nature and Science and other cultural facilities for the people it helps."

I`m a working stiff and I can`t afford to go the movies-- it irks me that the homeless get free tickets. If the city of Denver wants to hide the homeless from the media during the Democratic National Convention, they should arrest them for vagrancy, panhandling, disturbing the peace, public intoxication, indecent exposure, littering or trespassing and throw them in jail.

Shame on Denver, the only ticket the homeless deserve is a ticket to the joint.
