9th Grader Gets Ride To School By Helicopter

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Authorities are investigating an incident in which a Florida dad took his son to school in a helicopter, saying he wanted to make an impression on students.

The Lake County Sheriff`s office said Bart Sutherin did not alert authorities or the Lake County school district before renting a Hughes 300 helicopter and dropping his son off for the first day of classes Monday at East Ridge High School in Clermont. Sutherin put the copter down behind some portable classrooms on the school`s east side, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Thursday.

Sutherin, a father of three and a registered pilot, told investigators the stunt was an attempt to `make a positive impression on the other students` for his son Joseph, 14." UPI.Com

I remember my first day in high school, I tentatively walked down the halls avoiding eye contact with the behemoths known as seniors. I strived to blend in with the crowd, doing my best to be as inconspicuous as possible.

Bart Sutherin, acting as foolish as Bart Simpson, dropped his 14-year-old freshman son to school in a helicopter. Every student at East Ridge High School in Clermont is wondering: Who the hell does this punk freshman think he is? You can bet that he`s not going to have an easy time in school.

Way to go dad, I`m sure your attempt to "make a positive impression on the other students` for your son" was very successful.
