Dude Brags On Facebook About Stealing Simon The Chipmunk

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Suburban Chicago police said a Facebook post about the theft of a chipmunk statue from a movie theater led to the arrests of three teenagers.

facebookGurnee police said two 18-year-olds and a 16-year-old minor were arrested and charged with a local ordinance violation for the Feb. 11 theft of Simon, an "Alvin and the Chipmunks" character, from Gurnee Cinema, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday.

Investigators said the teens were arrested after one of them made a Facebook post indicating plans to return to the theater and steal Simon`s fellow chipmunk, Theodore." UPI

The kids may have thought that stealing a cardboard cutout of Simon the Chipmunk was a harmless prank, but the owner of the movie theater and the police considered it theft.

If you steal a chipmunk or a car don`t brag about in on Facebook, that`s evidence that can be used in a court of law. Even if you delete your Facebook page, an archived copy will exist forever.

The kids need to find a more worthwhile endeavor than trying to collect cardboard cutouts of Alvin the Chipmunk and his buddies.
