Should Little People Be Allowed To Be Flight Attendants?

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Taiwan`s China Airlines has been fined 300,000 Taiwan dollars (9,400 US) for discriminating against shorter people applying for jobs as flight attendants, the government said on Friday.

The airline violated employment law when it ran an advertisement in April imposing minimum height requirements for applicants, according to the Taipei city government`s labour department.

The company defended itself by saying that cabin crew needed to be tall enough to reach the overhead compartments, but the department ruled that it had hurt the rights of applicants not meeting the requirements." - AFP
Short people got nobody
Short people got nobody
Short people got nobody
To love

They got little baby legs
That stand so low
You got to pick em up
Just to say hello
They got little cars
That go beep, beep, beep.

China Airlines wasn`t being unreasonable, initially they imposed a minimum height requirement of 5 feet 4 inches for female applicants and 5 feet 7 inches for males.

I`m sorry but if you`re shorter than 5`4", you should seek employment as a garden gnome and not as a flight attendant.

I don`t want to pick up a dwarf flight attendant so he can get me a pillow from the overhead compartment. He`s likely to let escape a little toot toot fart that will stink up the entire cabin before I put him back down.

In an emergency you might throw a tiny flight attendant at a terrorist, but other than that they are useless.

To quote Clint Eastwood`s character "Dirty Harry", "a man has got to know his limitations." If you are a little person you should content yourself playing with bumper cars, and stay the hell out of airplanes.
