World Naked Bike Ride Drives Commuters Bonkers

By Robert Paul Reyes

"An estimated 8,000 cyclists rode through downtown Portland, Ore., this weekend in various stages of undress, organizers said.

Let me preface my comments by admitting that I hate cyclists more than than serial killers and TV pitchmen. I hate everything about them from their skin tight shorts that bare their shortcomings to the world, to their stupid looking helmets.

I don`t know how many times I`ve been trapped on a one-lane road behind a cyclist peddling twenty miles below the speed limit.

I don`t mind sharing the road with truckers and motorcyclists, but cyclists have no business on most roads and highways.

The purpose of the World Naked Bike Ride was to draw attention to the vulnerability cyclists face sharing roadways with motorized vehicles. They certainly made themselves vulnerable, if one of the naked cyclists took a tumble, he wouldn`t have any protection.

I don`t have anything against public nakedness, it`s selfish cyclists (naked or clothed) who tie up traffic who make my blood boil.

Cyclists face the danger of road rash, but an even bigger menace is road rage. Stunts like World Naked Bike Ride that tie up traffic only serve to infuriate commuters.
