"A drunk driver trapped after overturning his car cracked open another can of beer while he waited for emergency crews to rescue him, a New Zealand court was told.
Paul Nigel Sneddon, 47, pleaded guilty to careless driving and drunken driving after being nearly three times over the legal alcohol limit in a district court in the city of Palmerston North, the Dominion Post newspaper reported on Wednesday." - Reuters
I have no love for drunk drivers, and I believe that the penalty for driving under the influence should be severely increased. But I don`t blame this guy for opening another can of beer while he waited for the emergency crews to rescue him. He was working on a four day drinking binge, one more beer wasn`t going to make any difference.
This hapless fool went on a drinking binge after losing his job at a bakery on the same day he learned that his dad was diagnosed with cancer.
Sneddon is separated from his wife, he doesn`t have a job, and his dad is dying of cancer, I don`t blame him for trying to drink himself to death. I just wish he wouldn`t put other people in jeopardy by driving drunk.
Sneddon may be a baker, but when you are flooded by bad luck, going on a donut eating binge just ain`t going to cut it.
