Would Jesus Christ Join PETA?
|
|
"A rural Ohio church rejected Tuesday an offer from a leading animal rights group to erect a giant statue of Jesus proclaiming: `Go Vegan.`
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) offered to replace the congregation`s previous 62 foot statue for free after it was felled by lightening.
But the new version would depict Jesus holding a lamb with a banner reading: `Blessed are the merciful. Go Vegan," according to a letter from PETA vice president Bruce Friedrich.` Read More I`m not surprised that The Almighty destroyed the tacky 62-foot styrofoam statue of Jesus Christ.
The Supreme Being would think twice about demolishing a statue of Jesus with a pro-vegan message. There are no animals slaughtered for food in heaven; I imagine that everyone in paradise is a vegan.
If Jesus were alive today he wouldn`t darken the door of a Kentucky Fried Chicken or a McDonald`s, but he would hold up a banner reading: Go Vegan!
The Solid Rock Church should reconsider their hasty rejection of PETA`s generous offer. A pro-vegan statue of Jesus Christ would inspire a lot of vegetarians and vegans to join their church. Disclosure: I`m not a vegan or vegetarian. It`s a case of the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Follow Robert Paul Reyes on Twitter: http://twitter.com/robertpaulreyes
