Raising $100 Million for Children At-Risk

Raising $100 Million for Children At-Risk

By Deremiah *CPE (Mentor/Columnist)

I’m glad to tell you my name is Deremiah, *CPE, and I am honored to finally get a chance to meet you. In 2004, I was honored to receive the “Acres of Diamonds” award by Nightingale Conant, the “World Leader in Personal Development since 1960”. While I wish I could say I’ve been a world leader that long the truth is I’ve been working in the trenches where no one bothers to look…bringing hope and a promise of the future to children in our community for nearly 30 years.

My last job in corporate America was working for TYCO, the toy company that left children in pursuit of wealth and fame. In 2002 after winning almost every award as a security consultant, I left TYCO... wealth & fame... in pursuit of ways to help At-Risk Children. It's funny how art imitates life and life imitates art. You see for me it was a matter of "what really matters". That's what motivated me from reaching out to children on a part-time basis, to reaching out to children on a full-time basis. (If you'd like to know more about how I do that leave me your email address below to See the article I am in with Chicago’s Mayor Richard M. Daley, Jr.).

I’m sure your work really matters to you. Tom Peters, says the work does matter and I agree with him. While you may not be able to devote the time and energy that I do to mentoring children I’m sure you can help me make a difference as I help you leap to the next rung on the ladder of success. Vic Conant President & CEO of Nightingale Conant, Mark Victor Hansen co-author of “Chicken Soup for the Soul” and Brian Tracy and way too many others to name here all believe my vision is necessary (please read their endorsements). They believe in healing the hurts of children too. They are helping me make a difference along with other great women and men across our country. As a matter of fact, I’m even working with a woman in Israel on this effort to raise $100 Million for At-Risk Children.

Now because I do not know you personally I can not say that you’re not already making an effort to work with children but I can say this most people I talk to who are doing a little towards the effort would really like to do more. While I can’t afford to hire an advertisement company to help me do a real slick campaign I’ve decided that what’s more important than slick campaigns is that I write my own letters and express my own thoughts to you in a way that is genuine and completely sincere. It is my desire to win your favor as I continue what I believe is one of the most noble efforts of all times…saving our children from the aftermath of divorce, drugs and abandonment.

I realize you may not be willing to help me make a difference and I’m okay with that because this is my dream. But as the news media gives me more free advertisement to tell my story on TV, Radio, newspapers and magazines that is where I can give back to other great organizations like yours by praising you for your involvement.

You see I know what it is to be an At-Risk child because I came out of one of the worse roach infested Housing Projects in Chicago. Having survived my parents divorce, while overcoming thoughts of suicide, during the time I was struggling with my mom’s mental illness, a gentleman by the name of Jim Queen came into my life and led me to the doors of North Park University. While there, I received more corporate help than any student I've ever heard of. The following corporations helped make a difference in me becoming the first person in the history of my ancestors to get a college education. They were companies like:

Some of America's leading companies helped to sponsor Deremiah, *CPE's college education.

Monsanto Corporation

Allied Van Lines

W.W. Grainger

Brach’s Candy

Oil Dri Corporation of America

They all helped pay part of my way through college. Upon graduating Swede Roskam and Dick Jaffe of Oil Dri Corporation of America assured me of employment. Dick, the CEO of Oil Dri paid my salary out of his profits while Swede taught me everything that I needed to know about sales, button down shirts and wing tip shoes.

This joint effort by corporate businessmen has been one of the strongest driving forces behind my goal to raise $100 Million for Children At-Risk. Other CEO’s and business executives see the value of why it’s important for us to do this now so we're not going to wait any longer.

I would like to invite you to partner with me on this campaign in 2006-2007 “The Year of The Child” and I’m only asking you to be involved on whatever level you would like to participate. That way you’re involved in a way that benefits you, on your terms and in a way that brings you peace of mind. Fair enough? I believe whatever level you’re involved on will be more than enough to take our children to the next level and equally important over the $100 Million dollar mark. Thanks for listening and my sincerest apologies if I’ve wasted your time or offended you in any way. The truth is the children do matter!

Is there anything I can do for you?

 Your Servant,
