Soaps In Depth Hits the Double Digits 10

By Garrett Godwin

Since 1997, Soaps in Depth has been giving loyal fans the latest of their favorite daytime soaps such as upcoming storylines and who is coming and leaving as well as returning to daytime scene.

Unlike Soap Opera Digest and Soap Opera Weekly, Soaps In Depth are separate into three soap magazines because there are three networks -- ABC, NBC, CBS -- that air daytime soaps.

ABC Soaps in Depth recently celebrated its 10th anniversary with the cover story of Stuart Damon, who has played Alan Quartermaine for almost three decades on General Hospital.  Alan is one of the most legendary alumni of both the soap and daytime television scene; he won an Emmy for his role in 1999 when his character developed a drug addiction.

Alan is also one-half of the popular super couple Alan and Monica (Lesile Charleson).  Fans and even cast members were shocked and angry that the veteran Damon was let go of General Hospital.  His character suffered a heart attack during the hostage takeover at the Metro Court, and died in his hospital room at General Hospital

Friends and family of Port Charles were not the only ones mourning the loss of Alan; fans felt it, too.  But thanks to fans, Alan was brought back -- not to life, but as a ghost.  His spirit cannot rest and move on until his scheming sister Tracy (Jane Elliott) rights the wrong she and Luke (Anthony Geary) made in his will.
