Keanu becomes humanity's only hope again as Constantine, available on DVD

By Garrett Godwin

Hell wants him Heaven won't accept him

Earth needs him

He defuses a bomb on a bus in Speed, and then fought the machines in The Matrix.  Now, Keanu Reeves once again saves both the day and the world as Constantine.

Released in 2005, the film is an adaptation of DC Comics' Hellblazer.  Reeves is John Constantine, and cynical, chain-smoking, bitter man who are dying of lung cancer.  Working as a supernatural investigator in Los Angeles, he has the power to see demons and half-breeds as he performs exorcisms and sends the forces of darkness back to Hell in order to get to Heaven.  Problem is Constantine is destined for Hell because as a youth, he tried to commit suicide.  Now as an adult, he tries to redeem himself by fighting evil in hopes of getting a reprieve from Hell to Heaven.

Angela (Rachel Weisz), a police detective comes to Constantine for help when evidence suggests that her twin sister commits suicide, which is a sin.  Together, the two of them searches for answers, but what they uncover will change everything for both of them together.

John Constantine is a tragic anti-hero that walks a thin line between good and evil.  Cursed with his gift, he sets out to find his true purpose as well as peace and solace in his life.

The DVD features plenty of extras that include a behind the scenes look of the film and deleted scenes.

Made on a $100 million budget, Constantine went on to rake in $75 million in the US alone, and take in over $200 million worldwide, which is enough to green, lit a sequel.  There have been rumors and talks of whether or not Keanu Reeves would return as the brooding protagonist, but no official word or nor that and the proposed sequel.

Keanu Reeves is still on your side again as Constantine, available on DVD.
