Vestige of the Vox Populi # 43

Vestige of the Vox Populi # 43

By Sean Stubblefield

Scriggity, a kind of “alternative” news source, began one year ago. Its credo is “your news, our spin”.

And as that tag line suggests, viewers send in personal news and the host reports it, peppered (and occasionally salted) with humorously irreverent editorial commentary. Until a few months ago, that host was the witty and charmingly smart-ass-tic Shauna. Needing a break from Scriggity, she left indefinitely; but its producer-- Drew-- was determined that this show must go on. However, despite best intentions and efforts, the show floundered while a new host and possibly new ideas for Scriggity were sought.

Meanwhile, Drew filled in, but he is-- as he admits-- a better producer than a host. To many viewers, Shauna was so identified with the show that she was Scriggity.

It appeared that a new young woman named Alex was to be the-- or at least A-- new host of Scriggity. Although she had the potential to be a great replacement, after three episodes, Alex decided she wasn’t right for the part, and quit. After that, the show languished and all but disappeared for a few weeks. And then…

Now, it seems Shauna has returned! And her first vid back… is “news” I submitted! The episode is titled "Ring of Fire".

That’s a bit of awesome.
