Michael Jackson Planning Comeback Tour

Michael Jackson Planning Comeback Tour

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Michael Jackson is making his first live appearance in years, but will it still be a thriller?

The King of Pop is due to meet the press at a London concert arena this week to announce the mother of all comebacks - a string of concerts that organizers hope will net the financially troubled star millions. The Associated Press

If Mickey Rourke and Robert Downey Jr can make comebacks in the realm of acting, there`s a glimmer of hope that the erstwhile King of Pop can reclaim his throne.

Michael Jackson`s iconic "Thriller" album is the soundtrack of my young adulthood, and all of Jackson`s indiscretions and idiosyncrasies have failed to dampen my love for his music. When I listen to "Billie Jean" or "The Way You Make Me Feel", I`m reminded of good times and not of Jackson`s pathologies.

At 50 Jackson`s moonwalk may be a little rusty, but he still retains the magic to thrill his legion of fans. The gloved one may have to eschew the giant stadiums and settle for more intimate venues, but he still has drawing power.

Jackson is one of the best-selling artists of all time, he has sold gazillions of albums and won tons of awards. Jackson hasn`t released a new studio album since 2001, and his last tour was in 1996. His comeback tour will draw diehard fans and casual fans who are curious to find out if he still has the gift.

Jackson is rumored to be in ill health, and folks won`t miss an opportunity to see a living legend in concert. Jackson will never again rule the pop charts, but his old hits are guaranteed to thrill his fans. Jackson is battling personal demons and poor health, but he should still be able to rock the house.
