I'VE SEEN FILMS - More than 3,000 short films sent from 92 countries

By SOP newswire2

I`VE SEEN FILMS, founded by international artist Rutger Hauer, Under the Patronage of the Milano Municipality, the Consulate General of the netherlands, AGIS Lombarda and the Lombardia Film Commission is proud to announce that, due to the high number of submitted works, the Festival program`s final phase has been extended and the prestigious location of the Centre Culturel Français in Milan has been included as one of the venues. Founded in 1949, the Centre Culturel Français is located in the renowned Palazzo delle Stelline, across from the Santa Maria delle Grazie Basilica.
I`ve Seen Films 2009, in addition to being featured on the Internet for many months (beginning in May) with its online Contest, will run for ten days, from the end of September into October, in the following three venues located downtown Milan: Centre Culturel Français, (September 24, 26 and October 1); THECA (end September); Gnomo Milano Cinema  (September 29-October 3).
The film submission window closed on May 7, 2009, and the Festival`s organization would like to thank all the authors who have so enthusiastically accepted this challenge. Their response has been extraordinary, resulting in more than 3,000 short films sent from 92 countries. The artistic quality of these works far exceeds the most positive expectations.
I`ve Seen Films is one of the few film festivals in the world that is both  founded and directly managed by a famous actor and director. Its main purpose is the world-wide promotion of the works of filmmakers who deserve exposure and visibility for their works but rarely achieve this from the classic-formula film festivals.
I`ve Seen Films is the first festival whereby a short film competition is judged by an International Jury formed by so many notable artistic talents and experts of the cinematography sector. This clearly marks a turning point in this field. The 2009 Jury members are : director and producer Ridley Scott; director and producer Robert Rodriguez; director, composer and producer Lech Majewski; actress Miranda Richardson; director and producer Eugenio Cappuccio; photographer, director, producer and writer Anton Corbijn; producer, director and writer Bill Bristow; film essayist and TV author Daniela Catelli; film festival artistic director and writer Teresa Cavina; film critic, university lecturer and writer Roberto Nepoti; writer and director Jeremy Eynon and Rutger Hauer.
Since its 2008 inception, I`ve Seen Films has been the first short film festival to screen the authors works in a masterful, high-definition digitalized version. This is a significant positive feature in terms of film quality that is quite uncommon in other film festivals since it requires a high degree of professional technical knowledge and expertise.

I`VE SEEN FILMS 2009, thanks to its partnership with the  Rutger Hauer Film Factory (which transmits a legacy of enormous film knowledge passed on by Rutger Hauer and his peers and talented film professionals) is creating an innovative way of linking the new millennium medium of digital technologies to the firmly established cultural film festival tradition, with Rutger Hauer at the helm, personally awarding the Festival winners during the Award evening. The film authors, together with their works, will become the Festival`s real protagonists.
