TLC Should Pull The Plug On Jon & Kate Plus 8

TLC Should Pull The Plug On Jon & Kate Plus 8

By Robert Paul Reyes

"TLC`s hit reality show `Jon & Kate Plus 8` is taking a production break after the couple said on Monday night`s show that they were separating.

The show, which follows the lives of Jon and Kate Gosselin and their brood, has become a pop culture sensation, getting TLC its best ratings ever and providing the tabloids with a steady diet of gossip. The couple have been on more than 40 magazine covers over the last two months including seven in a row on US Magazine.

Because of all the turmoil in the Gosselin`s marriage, TLC does not have enough footage to put together new episodes right now as its production schedule had become very last minute. Episodes this season were often completed as late as the day of airing."

A production break isn`t long enough for Jon & Kate to deal with the aftermath of the dissolution of their marriage, after four seasons it`s time to pull the plug on the reality show.

In the first season of TLC`s highest rated program viewers enjoyed watching Jon & Kate as they struggled to raise eight delightful babies. It was a guilty pleasure that you could enjoy without having a barf bag handy.

But after four seasons Jon and Kate have morphed into self-centered reality stars who care more about their celebrity than they do their own children. The emphasis of the show is no longer on the children, but on Jon`s hair plugs and Kate`s cosmetic surgeries. (Not to mention the many alleged extra-marital affairs.)

Jon and Kate`s brood are no longer blissfully ignorant babies , but young children who are aware that they are being neglected and exploited.

It`s more honorable to get our voyeuristic thrills watching an orgy, than it is to witness the dissolution of a marriage and the exploitation and neglect of children.

TLC should do the right thing an cancel this abomination, but if they don`t I hope that Americans will stop watching this horrible reality series.
