Mike Luckovich's Controversial Cartoon Of Michael Jackson's Death

By Robert Paul Reyes

The death of Michael Jackson has generated thousands of articles, millions of blogs and saturation coverage from the cable news outlets.

Editorial cartoonists have also weighed in; one of my favorites shows the consummate entertainer moon walking through the Pearly Gates.

Pulitzer-winning cartoonist Mike Luckovich has infuriated the fans of the gloved one by depicting the devil and St. Peter flipping a coin over who gets Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson was no boy scout, indeed his greatest failing was his inordinate attraction to young boys. But we must keep in mind that Jackson was never convicted of child molestation. Perhaps Jackson had a wholesome love for young boys, and he surrounded himself with them in his Neverland Ranch because he wanted to vicariously enjoy the childhood he never knew. Maybe Jackson`s interest in young boys was more sinister, but now is not the time to delve into the subject. Leave it to Jackson`s biographers to explore this dark subject.

Now is the time to pay homage to the greatest entertainer in America`s history. Now is the time to reflect on the life and legacy of the King of Pop.
