Pop Tart Paris Hilton Sues Hallmark Cards

By Robert Paul Reyes

"The celebrity and heiress Paris Hilton may pursue her lawsuit against Hallmark Cards over its use of her picture and catchphrase `That`s hot` on a greeting card, a federal appeals court ruled on Monday.

Hilton had contended that Hallmark violated her privacy and right of publicity by ripping off a scene from her reality TV show `The Simple Life` on a birthday card captioned `Paris`s First Day as a Waitress.`"

The Hallmark Cards brand is known and loved for its warm and fuzzy greeting cards that never fail to elicit a smile. A Hallmark Card featuring Paris Hilton makes about as much sense as an Amy Winehouse anti-drug public service announcement.

Hallmark played with fire by using the image of the skanky Paris Hilton in one of their cards. Not only did they do irreparable harm to their brand, but Hilton will most likely win her lawsuit.

A Hallmark birthday card should depict angels, children, unicorns -- not a degenerate bimbo.

I trust that Hallmark has learned its lesson, and we won`t see a line of birthday cards featuring Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga.
