"Singer Michael Jackson has been posthumously nominated for five American Music Awards (AMAs), including artist of the year.
The pop star is lined up against Lady Gaga, Kings of Leon, Taylor Swift and rapper Eminem in the key category." Read More
Michael Jackson`s "Number Ones" was the bestselling album of 2009, but it was released in 2003. It`s a greatest hits compilation that features songs primarily from the 80s and 90s.
Some music critics have their panties in a twist because they feel that the AMAs should honor only artists who recently recorded albums.
The AMAs did the right thing because they are honoring the artist who had the greatest cultural and musical impact this year. The songs of Lady Gaga`s "The Fame" and Eminem`s "Relapse" can`t stand up to the classics of "Number Ones."
Hopefully the snippets of Michael Jackson songs that will be played during the awards show will provide an inspiration to young talents like Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga.
It`s not all about the fame Lady Gaga, it`s about talent, inspiration and drive. Spend a little bit less time choosing outrageous costumes to wear, and a little bit more time listening to Michael Jackson`s music, and your music is bound to improve.
