Small Miracle On New Year's Eve in Stockholm

Small Miracle On New Year's Eve in Stockholm

By Askin Ozcan (Mentor)

Askin Ozcan experienced many small miracles in his life. He related thirty of them in his book, "SMALL MIRACLES" - ISBN 1598001000 (Outskirts Press) which brought him a letter of thanks, from Vatican.

I had booked a table at Aladdin, a dance restaurant in Stockholm, for the New Year`s Eve. The receptionist told me to be there before 9 p.m.; otherwise he would give the table to someone else. That evening, I watched the news on TV, all dressed up and ready to go to town, but have fallen asleep in front of the TV.

Suddenly, I woke up by an explosion in the middle of the room. It was a fire-cracker which came into my apartment which was on the seventh floor, through a five cm. opening in the balcony door. How does a fire-cracker climb up to the seventh floor and enter into my apartment, through such a small opening, just when I needed wake up, not to miss the bus to the station? It was a pure miracle. I hurried to the bus stop, entered the bus which pulled off right after I went into it.

Next bus would be half an hour later. Then I took the suburban train and arrived at the Stockholm Central Station and when I finally arrived at Aladdin, it was five to 9 p.m.

"Good timing, Sir" the receptionist commented. If you had not come by 9, many people were waiting for your table.

After an enjoyable time, I left Aladdin a little after midnight to catch the last train back home.

Again a connecting bus brought me to my neighbourhood. I took the elevator to the seventh floor, put in the key in the lock, in my apartment`s door, and all the lights came out.

It was a nation-wide failure which lasted for four hours. What would I do, if I were caught up in the elevator or in the train? This was a second small miracle in the same evening.

I thanked God for that evening.

Miracles happen in our lives - small or big- and help us when we are in need. They are not
random coincidences. If they were, the fire-cracker would have come into my living room at another time. The electricity failure would have happen another time and not necessarily after I put the key into the lock of my door.
Many miracles or small miracles happened in my life. Thirty most interesting ones I related in my book, "SMALL MIRACLES" available at 200 internet bookshops incl.  under the name Askin Ozcan and via 25.000 bookstores by giving the book`s ISBN.
