Chowdhury Faria Dhaka Bangladesh

By Md Mahmudul Hasan, Immigration Lawyer, Dhaka, Bangladesh

Lawyers are considered as social engineers, that is why the amicable relationship among lawyers are very important in order to serve the society, nation and also the world. In the case of working for the social welfare sometimes the good relationship is created among the lawyers. If you see the world affairs and different great political persons, you will apprehend the reality of this matter. If you see the former President of the US, Mr. Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton, you will see that they both have contributed a lot for the world and both are lawyers. On the other hand, if you see the present US President Mr. Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama you will see that they are both lawyers and Michelle Obama is working as an unofficial adviser to Barack Obama.

During my LL.B (Hons) course in The University of Asia Pacific, Dhaka, Bangladesh, my best amicable companion was Chowdhury Faria . She was very much amicable with me as well as my unofficial adviser. I can remember during our "Criminal Advocacy" class she was the Judge of the Moot Court Trial and I was the lawyer and I submitted the bail petition under section 302/364 of Penal Code 1860 (Bangladesh), which contains the crimes related to Murder, Kidnap/Abduction. My case was very much sensitive on the other hand, I was feeling much hesitation to submit my case before my sweetheart Faria but I tried a lot showing some logical arguments. The concentration of all of the classmate-friends were before us and fortunately my bail petition was granted. Actually it was not for personal bias because many petitions were not granted at our Moot Court Trial Class.

I and Chowdhury Faria, attended many important seminars as well workshops which were very much important not only for law as well to work for the human rights. When I was in first year of LL.B (Hons) my knowledge of speaking English was very poor and she identified my problems and from her inspiration I tried to improve the English Language. We jointly attended in a magnificent seminar which was arranged by UNCHER on "The International Law Regarding Refugee" in our University. Both we attended in that magnificent Seminar and I was requested to write the questions for her which would be asked to the presenter. I can remember I asked a question to our presenter who was likelihood a Chinese citizen. However, we enjoyed that seminar and we understood what should be done for the betterment of refugees. However, we took the plan to work for the betterment of human beings.

The parents of Chowdhury Faria Esteemed Mr. AKM Rashed Chowdhury and Kaniz Katema were very much amicable to us. During the birthday of Faria they would arrange nice programmes. One of our friends was Hindu and as per the rule of his religion eating beef is totally prohibited. My esteemed Kaniz Fatema (mother of Faria) cooked chicken for my Hindu friend. It was really enjoyable and it was a great respect to the belief of another religion. Actually I respected Esteemed AKM Rashed Chowdhury a lot and during our religious festival such as Eid, I sent him nice SMS and it was acknowledged by her daughter.

Chowdhury Faria was very much active about the rights of the people. In case of any abuse of basic rights of the students she was an active voice. On the other hand she would inspire me a lot to work properly by which I had been inspired to work for the betterment of human being. I can remember when my first article was published in the most popular English Newspaper "The Daily Star" on the topic "Piracy under International Law" she praised for my article. Actually I was happy when I saw that she had been happy looking my published article in the most popular English newspaper.

Chowdhury Faria was a girl of bold-nature but when she speak with me she always use very soft language in a very melodious way which is very much sensational for me. However our significant work was assignment on Administrative Law. Our teacher of Administrative law gave us a tough assignment on "Natural Justice". The cases regarding our Assignment was very tough and Faria said me to send cases through Email. I although gave her cases but in handwriting because of some problems to type the cases in computer. However, her thankful mind is unforgettable.

It was also really a nice experience for me to give a speech in a Seminar which was arranged by a renowned Human Rights Organization in Bangladesh "Bangladesh Ain O Manobadhikar Bastobayon Songstha" on the topic as "Prevention of repression against Women in Bangladesh". I gave speech against the repression of Women in Bangladesh and Faria was happy regarding my speech.  I and Faria both are the active voice about the rights of women in Bangladesh. Both we contain the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in mind in order to work for the betterment of Human being.

However, with the inspiration of my dear Chowdhury Faria I am going forward to work for the betterment of human beings.
