"The Apartment" Restaurant Makes Diners Feel At Home

By Robert Paul Reyes

"There is a restaurant in Jakarta that promises patrons they`re going to feel at home and things look promising when a pajama-wearing waiter asks if you`d like to dine in the bedroom.

The Apartment, in South Jakarta`s Kuningan district, has diners at tables nestled between furniture in seven rooms that you may find in a large flat, as well as a bar.

The bathroom, complete with a large bathtub, shower head and towels, gets the loudest giggles and its five tables fill up first."

I hope this ridiculous trend doesn`t take over the restaurant business, I refuse to patronize a dining establishment that looks like my home. I want a waitperson to wear a tuxedo or at least a white shirt with a bow tie, I don`t want him or hear wearing freakin` pajamas.

At least the bathroom doesn`t have a toilet, it might ruin a customer`s appetite if someone takes a dump. I hope the waitperson serving the bathroom isn`t wearing a janitor`s uniform and carrying a dirty mop.

If an Apartment type restaurant opens in New York City it would be a disaster, diners would be making out in the bedroom, and taking a bath in the bathroom.

The only room in the restaurant that I would feel comfortable in would be the library, reading and drinking coffee and eating a meal go hand-in-hand.

When the novelty wears off, the Apartment will close within a year.
