I was born and raised in San Francisco, a city renowned for its many world-class restaurants. Like any resident or former resident of the City by the Bay, I pride myself on having a sophisticated palate.

But for the past ten years I have lived in the South, and I have come to love Southern cuisine. In the South we fry everything, and to hell with calories and cholesterol.

If you fry a sponge and pour hot sauce over it, it will taste delicious. I`m not surprised at all that deep-fried Margarita is being sold at the State Fair of Texas.

You have to be over the age of 21 to buy a deep-fried margarita, which will be available when the State Fair begins Sept. 24 in Dallas.
