Dr. Bob Gleeson, Author of What Healthy People Know chats with Judyth Piazza

By Judyth Piazza CEO (Editor)

Dr. Gleeson is the Vice President and Medical Director for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, where for the past quarter-century he has assessed the long-term health prospects for thousands of people.

Though many people believe long-term health care can be found in a pill or surgery - or they believe their fate is sealed in their genes - a new book shows us that our health is largely up to us in the habits that we develop regarding diet, stress, and exercise - and in the absence of certain habits such as smoking.

"Living a long, healthy life is within everyone`s grasp provided they make consistently good choices throughout their lives," asserts Bob Gleeson, M.D., FACP, and the author of What Healthy People Know: And The 7 Things They Do To Stay Healthy And Live Long (June 1, 2005). "Even decades of neglect can be reversed, provided you take action now."

His new book presents and applies the science supporting the benefits of healthy choices. He promotes good health, disease prevention, and longevity, showing us how we are responsible for our health more than we realize. "It`s not about your environment or some other outside factor," says Dr. Gleeson.

"Your health is in your own hands. I am convinced we are responsible for 70% of our health."
There is universally consistent scientific data to support a healthy lifestyle.
§ Heart disease incidents can be decreased by 80%.
§ Incidents of Type 2 Diabetes can be cut back by 80%.
§ Cancer victim rates could drop by half.

But, this will only happen once the public is educated and ready to respond to the health crisis.
