Midnight Snacks Will Leave You Looking Like Oprah Winfrey

Midnight Snacks Will Leave You Looking Like Oprah Winfrey

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Midnight raids on the refrigerator may have worse consequences than indigestion -- a study in mice boosts the theory that when you eat affects whether the calories go to your hips or get burnt off.

Mice fed during the daytime -- when they normally would be sleeping -- gained more weight than mice fed at night, Fred Turek of Northwestern University in Illinois and colleagues found." Reuters

The secret to happiness is enjoying the simple pleasure in life: Walking with your dog, having a snow fight, or raiding the fridge in the middle of the night.

I`m tired of scientists, physicians and government agencies telling us all the things that are bad for us. We don`t need Big Brother pointing out the obvious. You don`t have to be a nutritionist or a rocket scientist to figure out that midnight snacks could pack on the pounds.

I know that if I wake up late at night and microwave a slice of pizza or fix a peanut butter sandwich, I`m going to pay a price. But life is too short, and I`m not going to deny myself the simple pleasure of eating a couple of Ding Dongs late at night.

All this talk of food is making me hungry, it may be close to one in the morning, but I think I`m going to eat those chicken wings left over from dinner.
