Jill had dreamed of converting her old freestanding garage into a cozy studio where she could paint. The contractor she hired to do the job not only avoided getting the job permit he promised to get, but he left Jill with a flimsy, compromising garage that was anything but cozy. Upon inspection, general contractor Mike Holmes found considerable problems.
Among the worst of the problems, there was no foundation, some of the studding was laid directly on earth and the walls were built with a combination of new and scrap wood. Armed with a permit and new architectural plans, Mike and his crew tear down the abysmal garage and start from scratch. After digging out the area and pouring the foundation, the crew built a new studio garage, complete with gorgeous wood beams and a remote control skylight. Jill was overjoyed to finally have a beautiful and safe garage that will last a lifetime.
