Japan Week in Kyiv

Japan Week in Kyiv

By Ann Poludenko

It was officially announced this week, “the Japan week in Kyiv”. Eastern style of clothes and literature are the most popular today in Ukraine.  Organizers of the “week of Japan in Kyiv” wanted to introduce the cultural achievements of this eastern country to kyivans and its visitors.
The schedule of the events are on the city’s bulletin boards.  The event is planned to present information about the Japanese culture and exhibitions of modern Japanese literature, as well as art-performances.
Kate, a language student from the Shevchenko University in Kyiv, said that she wore a Japanese style hat that is decorated with many hieroglyphs to class one day because she liked it.
“Now I understand why several guys from Japan that I met at the entrance of the classroom started to laugh when they looked at my hat.
“I am a little penguin – this is what the hieroglyphs on the hat mean,” said Kate.

At the end of the week, there will also be another celebrated day of Japanese films and music.  It is still a secret what singers were invited to take part at the final concert. However, the organizers promise everyone a pleasant surprise.

Today, all of those who like “green tea ice-cream” and “violet soup” are invited to visit the master-class of cooking Japan dishes.  Have a good time!
