Judyth Piazza chats with NewsBlaze.com's Alan Gray

By Judyth Piazza CEO (Editor)

Alan Gray was born in England, and moved to Australia at the age of 13.  He lost his Yorkshire accent as quickly as he possibly could.  He was good at most subjects, and especially liked English grammar and spelling.

After school, he worked for Telecom Australia and earned an Electronic Technician Certificate (similar to an Associates Degree in the US).

Gray moved to Canberra, Australia and worked for a software company that created text processing tools. While there, he built a story processing and distribution system. The company moved him to the United States 8 years ago.

At one time, the company lost their news contract for 4 months, therefore, Gray created his own news, because they had 10,000 free customers and a few paying customers that they did not want to lose.

I noticed that the mainstream media often changed the tone of stories and that is when Gray decided he wanted to act as a counterbalance to that.  Also, in the United States, he thought many people did not know much about the rest of the world, so he wanted to change that too.

2 years ago, Gray started building a newspaper system, www. NewsBlaze.com. NewsBlaze.com opened in February 2005, starting with an Alexa ranking of about 1 million, now 34,000 and rising.

Newsblaze.com aims to bring out news that matters to people and to provide background to the stories wherever possible.
