MI5 IS Top Career Choice
A job at the Security Service (MI5) has been voted the second most popular career choice among students in a survey published by the Financial Times on 1 May.
In the FT's rankings of the top 100 graduate employers, the Service came second only to the BBC, with 9.4% of those surveyed listing MI5 as their top choice of employer.
In claiming second place, the Service beat off competition from both the private sector - including companies such as Microsoft, Google and Rolls-Royce - and the public sector, including organisations such as the NHS, Environment Agency and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
Male and female students both ranked the Service in the top three most desirable career choices, with an MI5 career currently proving slightly more desirable to men, who listed it as their top option.
The Service is currently undertaking a major programme of expansion, with targets to grow by around 500 staff over the next year.
The Financial Times UK Graduate Recruitment Review 2007 was compiled from a survey of 44,000 students in Britain.
