U.K. Female Genital Mutilation Arrest

A woman has been arrested in London on suspicion of arranging female genital mutilation.

The arrest follows an awareness campaign by the Met`s Child Abuse Investigation Command earlier this month aimed at raising awareness on the subject of female genital mutilation (FGM).

A £20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to a prosecution of those responsible for carrying out the procedure of FGM on children in London. 

This reward comprises of £10,000 provided by the Metropolitan Police Service and £10,000 provided by the Waris Dirie Foundation, an anti-FGM organisation.
