3 US Citizens Detained in Romania
3 US Volunteers Detained in Romania - While Helping NY Missing Child
On Sunday, January 11th, American Association For Lost Children`s (AAFLC) Child Rescue Team, composed of three US citizens, traveled to Romania to recover and rescue an 8-year old US citizen who was kidnapped to Romania in July, 2008. The Team was traveling with the FBI Federal International Warrant for the arrest of the abductor.
On Tuesday, January 13th, the Rescue Team recovered 8-year old child and went to the US Embassy in Romania to get a passport for the child and assistance to leave the country.
Later, Rescue Team and child were taken into custody by Romanian police officers for questioning and all US Passports were also taken. They were held for over 24 hours without being able to make a phone call and without legal representation. They are currently being detained by Romanian officials with orders to remain there until otherwise notified.
To-date, these US citizens have been detained for over 18 days. Romania is taking their time in making their decision for the release of US Citizens " why?
Why is Romania continuing to be a safe place for abductors of US children and making it difficult for their safe return home?
