By SOP newswire

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition Forces killed 11 terrorists and detained 24 suspected terrorists in multiple raids throughout Iraq Saturday.

During the first raid in the Tikrit area, Coalition Forces detained seven suspected al-Qaida terrorists.

After searching the targeted building, ground forces detained five more suspected terrorists and discovered a cache of weapons, license plates and $20,000.

Coalition Forces also detained two suspected terrorists and killed one terrorist in a raid east of Baqubah.

In Hit, an armed terrorist threatened Coalition Forces with small arms fire.  Coalition Forces returned fire killing the terrorist and detained four suspected terrorists.  One of the suspected terrorists is believed to have financed foreign fighters and is responsible for vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices and kidnappings in the Haditha and Hit regions. Weapons manuals and an overhead projector were also found in one of the rooms.

In Yusufiyah, Coalition Forces were engaged by enemy forces and they returned fire, killing nine terrorists and detaining two suspected terrorists.

A raid in Baghdad resulted in Coalition Forces detaining three more suspected terrorists.

These raids are a part of ongoing efforts to empower the Iraqi people to defend, govern and rebuild their country.  Coalition Forces will continue to hunt down and detain or kill terrorists who try to prevent a peaceful and stable Iraq.
