Quantum of Solace Review (DVD)

Quantum of Solace Review (DVD)

By Garrett Godwin

Quantum of Solace is the second prequel that follows James Bond`s journey into becoming the secret agent we`ve all known and love for the past five decades.  Picking up where 2006`s Casino Royale left off, the movie follows Bond (Daniel Craig) traveling across Europe to search for the people responsible for the death of the woman who truly loved him -- and betrayed him.

However, his boss M (Dame Judi Dench) is worried about him like any mother that worries about her son.  She believes that his anger and his need for revenge are getting in the way of completing his mission, as Bond endures emotional and moral struggles: realizing that the only person he can trust is himself.

James Bond has always been the ultimate spy for the Cold War generation.  He`s a superspy with an license to kill, an eye for the ladies, liking his martinis shaken not stirrred, always having the coolest gadgets, and driving the hottest cars.  Bond has always been cold and distant because they keep him alive, but yet keeps him alone, because his life is his job.

Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace shows this Bond up in the ranks with 24`s Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland): a fallible, flawed, complex, conflicted, tragic, human hero for the post-9/11 generation.
