Meredith Vieira and Mika Brzezinski: Two Reporters With Integrity

Meredith Vieira and Mika Brzezinski: Two Reporters With Integrity

By Robert Paul Reyes

"`Today Show` host Meredith Vieira tells all in her interview with More magazine - including why she refused to interview Paris Hilton!

Meredith talks about how she was approached to interview Paris after she was released from prison.

`I did not feel good about doing the interview. I just said, `I don`t think this is right, this is all about ratings,` she said."

I applaud Vieira for refusing an interview that the average reporter would have sold his or her soul to the devil to obtain. I understand why tabloids and entertainment shows like "E.T." are infatuated with the likes of Hilton, Spears and Lohan, but serious journalists should have nothing to do with the dimwit celebrities.

Vieira proved that she cares more about her professional integrity than she does about ratings. If Vieira`s colleagues followed her lead, America would finally be Hilton-free.

Meredith isn`t the only journalist with integrity, Mika Brzezinski became a YouTube star a while back when she refused to read a Paris Hilton story on her MSNBC show "Morning Joe."

Let`s hear it for these two highly intelligent, honest and top-notch reporters; I wish more journalists were like them.

Yes, I am aware of the irony (cynicism) of using this story as an excuse to write yet another article about Paris Hilton. Give your fingers a break, don`t send me any emails.
