Breaking News: Massacre At Fort Hood
"A pair of mass shootings at Ft. Hood military post in Texas left at least 7 dead and as many as 30 wounded Thursday, and one suspected gunman is on the loose, the Army said.
Additional shots were reported at an soldier`s residence, KCEN-TV reported around 4:30 p.m. No additional information was immediately available.
A massive manhunt was under way for the suspect at large, Fox News confirmed, and one person was in custody. The New York Post said that there were two shooters at the Army post massacre; other reports said there were three."
This is a breaking news story, and reports are sketchy.
We know that our soldiers are risking their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan, but it`s still a tragedy when they are killed by the Taliban or jihadists. But when our warriors our gunned down in a theater or in their homes here in America it seems so senseless.
The police aren`t releasing many details, and we don`t know if the attackers were foreigners or Americans. But we do know that it`s a tragedy whenever our young men and women are killed simply because they are military personnel.
Fort Hood is no stranger to violence, there have been a series of violent incidents at the military post in the past two years. Taking Fort Hood`s history of violence into account, we must ask if the military should have been better prepared. I am not yet ready to condemn the military leadership at Fort Hood -- this is a breaking news story and we are still waiting for all the facts to be brought to light.
My thoughts are with the victims, and their friends and families.
