How I bought my Love nettle tea
|
By David Bedworth
It was not bought by cash or pounds
or bartered harshly across hemp sacks
in Souks awash with heat and scent.
Nor was it bought at waters edge
where ships alight from world`s wide reach,
glistening spray on every plane.
It could not be found on open Steppe
where passing Caravan`s sway in rhyme,
like ticking clocks from Marco`s days.
Instead, it was bought from England fair,
where field and hedgerows hold the sway,
of endless growing nettles.
Ready to drop, for those who know,
a blackened leaf for nettle tea.
