Fall From Grace - Joe Leigh Story

Fall From Grace - Joe Leigh Story

By Nancy Lee Wolfe (HR Development/Content Manager)

Joe Leigh, a career politician, resolved he could not fail.  What a cocky scoundrel he had become.  Long ago, he lost his senses and sensitivity.  Backed by The Great Machine, pockets full of markers, he was invincible.

He had many enemies.

In a chat room he meets WatchfulWeaver.  With words of reason; words just right; words of deeds once done at night, Joe Leigh begins to stumble.  The light is too bright for his eyes.

"I'm innocent!" he cries from the courthouse.  "I swear I've done nothing wrong."

A deal he strikes with contrivance -- just sparing his family the trial.  Joe Leigh succumbs to best options:  his pension, his postage, his pride.

The Machine will never forget him -- sending flowers each week to his cell.  The card is always quite simple, "We'll run you for mayor, son, they'll forget you're in jail."
