Detainee dies at Camp Cropper

By SOP newswire

CAMP CROPPER, Iraq— A security detainee died Dec. 2 at Camp Cropper, Iraq, from natural causes.  An investigation is pending to determine the cause of death, a standard procedure for detainees who die while in custody of the Multi-National Force.

The detainee had been admitted to the hospital Nov. 27 for a minor heart attack for which he was treated and then put under medical observation. On Nov. 30, while still hospitalized, the detainee suffered another larger heart attack.  Despite receiving treatment, his condition deteriorated and he developed an abnormal heart rhythm at the time of his death.

An attending physician pronounced him dead at 9:51 a.m. Dec. 2.

The family will receive the remains upon completion of the investigation, in accordance with standard procedure.
