BAGHDAD – Iraqi Security Forces and Multi-National Division – While conducting combat operations northwest of the Iraqi capital, a Multi-National Division-Baghdad Soldier was seriously wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated May 28. The Soldier was taken to the Combat Support Hospital but died of wounds May 29.

During the past week, elements of this unit have detained several suspected terrorist and found three weapons caches including small arms, ammunition, and IED-making materials. Finding these weapons caches and arresting the individuals affiliated with them helps reduce the threat of terrorist attacks and aids in providing a more secure and safe living environment for the Iraqi people.

The deceased Soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.
