The Circus is in Iowa! The Republican/Democratic Circaucus!

The Circus is in Iowa! The Republican/Democratic Circaucus!

By Will Roberts

All I know is what I see in Iowa, at least for tonight! Now I told you this before, and I will say it again: I am not much of a sports fan. I can play almost any sport but I just can’t watch them on TV. However, if you consider Iowa a race; and, I think we all do, I am on the edge of my seat and ready to scream out. Here is the score right now as I watch it coming to me LIVE. By the way, I decided to sit on the floor as the edge of my seat is now gone. Ok, here it is, 42 for Edwards 33 for Hillary and 25 for Obama.

I think, as I said in my comments yesterday, maybe a good game of  inny minni minny moe would do us just fine. If you look into the crowds of folks in Iowa, every once in a while you can catch a caucus member flipping a quarter. That is 25 cents of the 400 dollars that democrats are spending on each caucuses member- just to get them to hang out with them for one night. It is all kinda like a Rush event in college. Except not as much drinking, thank goodness.

Democrats are doing anything they can to get folks out to caucuses, anything short of creating a natural disaster in Iowa.  But as cold as it is out there, candidates are hoping that Iowa folks will warm up to the hot air candidates are blowing.

If you are not on your game as a candidate though, it could cost you a vote. I don’t know about you folks, but I could never live in Iowa unless I knew who I wanted and I was SET on my candidate. Cause, if you look at this from my angle, it looks like a good wind could cost the most credible candidate the difference between a thumbs up or a thumb ride home.

Fifty other states are 6 months, 8 months away from making a choice of candidates and Iowa and New Hampshire already know. Is there a memo we missed?

I don’t see that I am making much sense today, however, you are not paying me 100 million dollars to convince you that I am genuine. Well, I have to head off. I need to check the Vegas sports books and see how my bet is doing. No, I am kidding.  However, not a bad idea-- have to figure out how to get our money back from my candidate if they go down tonight.  Oh, you still have a chance to be counted even if you are not in Iowa. If you see or hear something that a candidate says that you like or don’t like, get on the phone or email your friends in Iowa and let 'um know. They are going to need some help tonight.
