Salman Rushdie: Sarah Palin Is Extreme And Incompetent

By Robert Paul Reyes

"British author Salman Rushdie branded US vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin as a `joke` Sunday and said naming her as Republican John McCain`s running mate was a `colossal misjudgement`.

Rushdie, a vocal supporter of Democratic White House candidate Barack Obama, told Ireland`s TV3 channel that Palin was extreme and incompetent.

`I think she`s a joke. I mean I always thought, she`s a bad joke,` he said. `But I always thought it was a colossal misjudgement of McCain`s to appoint her as his running mate because she`s not even borderline competent and what we know about her, or increasingly what we are beginning to know about her, is how very, very, very far to the right she is.`

As the recent economic meltdown in America has demonstrated, our economy is inextricably linked with the world economy. We are living in a global village, and it`s important what the rest of the world thinks about us. Not only our enemies, but even our staunchest allies despise President George W. Bush, and they have no great love for his water boy, John McCain.

Sen. Barack Obama, on the other hand, is universally loved, even in nations that aren`t friends of the United States. To restore American`s good name it`s imperative that we elect the Obama/Biden ticket.

British author Salman Rushdie is a prominent intellectual and a man of courage, Americans should listen to what he has to say about the 08 presidential election.

Rushdie calls Palin a "joke", and if anything that`s an understatement. McCain exercised wretchedly poor judgment in choosing Palin as his running mate, how can we trust that he will appoint worthy judges to the Supreme Court?

Palin is slightly to the right of Attila the Hun, dear God she doesn`t even believe in abortion in the case of rape or incest. If she ever becomes president America will resemble Iran more than it does Great Britain.

I hope that Americans will heed Rushdie`s advice and vote for Obama/Biden.
