Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin's $150,000 Wardrobe

By Robert Paul Reyes

"The Republican National Committee spent $150,000 on clothing and accessories for the vice presidential candidate and her family since early September, according to a report by the Politico Web site."

Sarah Palin`s constant refrain on the campaign trial is that she`s a maverick and a reformer. McCain promises that he will "make famous" any politician who wastes money. McCain should start by making his running mate famous for accepting expensive designer outfits paid for by by donors to the Republican Party.

"At Saks Fifth Avenue stores in Manhattan and St. Louis, the RNC paid for $49,425.74 in Palin apparel, the report said, citing financial disclosure records.

There also was a $75,062.63 shopping spree at Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, where the Palins stayed during the Republican National Convention last month; $9.447.71 at Macy`s in Minneapolis; and $5,102.71 at Bloomingdale`s in New York."

Joe Sixpack and Joe the Plumber are scrimping and saving so they can afford to buy their children clothes from K-Mart and Sears; I wonder how they feel about Palin using their campaign contributions to shop at the most expensive stores in New York City?

At a time when average Americans are suffering through hard economic times, it is an obscenity for Palin to splurge on expensive duds. Joe the Plumber could have used that $150,000 to buy his own business and to attend school to learn how to be a real plumber.

The McCain camp must think that Palin is running for Mrs. America, why else are they so preoccupied with making sure she is dressed in the latest fashion? I wish she were running for a beauty pageant title, because the woman is totally unqualified to serve as vice-president.

Palin is the antitheses of a reformer and maverick, she is a seriously ethically-challenged politician. According to an independent probe assigned to investigate Palin`s involvement in Troopergate, she abused her power and violated ethics laws.

Palin is also in hot water for charging the state of Alaska for taking her brood with her while traveling with her. It was Palin`s choice to have all those damn kids, she should pay for their travel expenses.

The American public sees through Palin`s lipstick and designer duds, her approval ratings are plummeting by the day. John McCain`s cynical, desperate and reckless decision to select Palin as his VP has turned around to bite him in the rear end.

Like most Americans I`m feeling the economic pinch, buying clothes is simply not in my budget. I am outraged that Palin is so out of touch that she gets all dolled up at the expense of donors to her campaign.
