CNBC Reporter Goes On A Rant Against Obama's Mortgage Plan
Rick Santelli a CNBC business reporter went on a rant against President Barack Obama`s mortgage bailout plan on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade. If a sports reporter goes on a tirade against a football player nobody bats an eye, because we don`t expect a sports reporter to be a model of objectivity and decorum. But the viewing public demands a modicum of civility from a business reporter. Santelli embarrassed himself and the network that he represents, CNBC should ban him from the airways until he`s had time to chill out.
The White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs went on a rant of his own, condemning Santelli for his unprofessional conduct:
"`I also think that it`s tremendously important that for people who rant on cable television - to be responsible and understand what it is they`re talking about. I feel assured that Mr. Santelli doesn`t` know what he`s talking about,` Gibbs said during the daily White House briefing for reporters."
The Associated Press
President Obama`s mortgage plan is certainly open to criticism; I`m not crazy about the prospect of taxpayers bailing out deadbeats. But Santelli should have put a lid on the histrionics, and in a calm and professional manner dissected Obama`s mortgage rescue plan.
You my dear reader can be the judge watch the video and tell me if Santelli is a heroic journalist or a pathetic clown:
