"A new analysis by Public Policy Polling (D) finds that Sarah Palin is especially popular with a key Republican demographic: The Birthers.
Among those respondents in PPP`s latest national poll who either said that President Obama was not born in the United States or were undecided, Palin had a 66% favorability rating." Eric Kleefeld/TPM
The Republican Party bears a strong resemblance to the bar scene at Star Wars. Attend any GOP gathering and you will find a motley crew: Birthers, tea baggers, Palin sycophants, town hall meeting trolls, gun nuts, born-again clowns, and pro-life zealots.
When pundits and political experts use a phrase like "Birther wing of the GOP" without a hint of irony, you know that the Republican Party is in deep trouble.
It`s no surprise that birthers would find affinity with the looney former governor of Alaska who believes that she is a foreign policy expert because she can see Russia from her back porch.
The inmates have seized control of the Republican Party, and it`s totally plausible that the chief nut, Sarah Palin, could win the 2012 Republican Presidential nomination.
As a liberal this possibility makes me happy, because Obama would win in a landslide. But as an American who loves this country, this nightmare scenario makes me very sad.
I`d rather maintian permanent residence at the infamous Star Wars bar than have Sarah Palin as my president.
