Time For Teabaggers To Get A Life

Time For Teabaggers To Get A Life

By Robert Paul Reyes

The teabaggers were hoping for a Million Moron March on Washington on Sept 12, 2009. Only a few thousand teabaggers showed up, hopefully the disappointing turnout is the death knell of the teabagger movement.

I saw coverage of the event on CNN, and blogger Joe Sudbay accurately described them as "very white, older, and very, very angry."

When you see young people shouting slogans at an anti-warch march, you marvel at the exuberance and idealism of youth. But when you witness a bunch of old codgers yelling anti-Obama remarks, you fear that a few of them might get a stroke or a heart attack.

The crux of the matter is that these conservative nutjobs can`t accept that the President of the United States is an African American. I didn`t see any signs in support of a cause, I only saw signs against: Abortion, socialism, taxes, Obama, Nancy Pelosi, health care reform, government bailouts... The only thing uniting these disparate groups is their loathing of a black president.

The organizers of the march on Washington promised millions, and they delivered a few thousands. It`s time that these teabaggers stop demonstrating, and once again take up their hobbies of playing Bingo, watching televangelists on TV, and listening to Rush Limbaugh.

Even if teabaggers don`t disappear as quickly as we would like, they have been exposed as wackjobs, and only fellow crazies like Glenn Beck take them seriously.
