Five Reasons a Self-Proclaimed Democrat Supports Sarah Palin in 2012

Five Reasons a Self-Proclaimed Democrat Supports Sarah Palin in 2012

By Geoff Dean

First off, I am a Democrat, for the most part. Back in 1984, I worked for Jesse Jackson`s ill-fated run at the local headquarters in Indianapolis. I, then, supported Ross Perot twice and did the same for George W. Bush. In the latest election and my latest incarnation, I went for then Senator Obama. So as you can probably notice, I have not been exactly consistent. In keeping with that, I would like to give five reasons to vote for Sarah Palin in 2012, assuming she runs, and didn`t just quit being Alaska`s Governor for the heck of it.

1) Excellent eyesight- Palin was much ridiculed for her "I can see Russia from my window" comment. I, for one, don`t doubt her for a minute. She has excellent, almost supernatural eyesight. Of course, if she goes to Washington, she won`t be able to keep an eye on Putin anymore and he may just "rear his head" or "head for the rear" or something. Still, she can, from Washington, presumably, keep an eye on Europe, the Middle East, and Cuba, if she can figure out where they are.

2) Multi-tasking- We have recently discovered the value of lumping countries together. For example, we no longer talk of the Afghan situation and the Pakistan situation but we refer to the Af-Pak situation. Palin was way ahead of the curve on this, lumping Libya and South Africa and Somalia and everything in between into the "country of Africa." How much easier to deal with one "country" than a variety of messes! If she becomes President, ultimately, I think she will boil most problems down to "us vs. them", the simplest lumping of all. Genius!

3) Less Government-We have all heard the mantra of "The government that governs least, governs best." And we have all heard people question Palin`s preparedness, qualifications, etc. to be President. But if the job of the President is to govern least, who is better qualified to accomplish nothing and boast about it than Ms. Palin.

4) When the going gets tough-How about the various domestic and international crises that may arise? The proverbial 3AM phone call? Palin knows what to do. Quit! Unlike Bush, who just kept coming back for more, who took a licking and kept on ticking, Palin knows when to hold them, when to fold them, when to walk away and when to RUN!

5) Other prospects-Perhaps the most compelling reason to vote for a President Palin in 2012 is to consider other options. Palin as Secretary of State? Secretary of the Treasury? Homeland Security? I`d much rather have her enforcing policy than trying to come up with any.

We must be sure and elect Sarah Palin as President in 2012. God forbid she should get a real job!
