Bulldozing Corner at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi

Prof. Bhim Singh expressed shock and anguish on the unmindful act of Delhi Administration for bulldozing corner at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi in the Wee Hours this morning by dragging peacefully dharna sitters to the police stations.

Prominent among those who were detained by Parliament Street Police Station were released on the intervention of Panthers Party Supremo, Prof. Bhim Singh. Mr. Alamdar Abbas, activist of the All India Human Rights Association was among those detained after completing 592 days on continuous sit in dharna demanding amendment in the Criminal Procedure Code to ensure protection of civil and fundamental rights of the poorest of the poor who cannot afford the price of justice in the courts of law.

Other activists who were also released belong to Joota Maro Andolan, Victim Party and other activists.

Prof. Bhim Singh regretted that Jantar Mantar had acquired an international status of "Hydel Park Corner` in the capital enhancing the national prestige of the country for providing an open public channel to focus the attention of the media and the government towards their utter grievances.

He urged the Prime Minister for his urgent intervention to ensure that Delhi is not converted into Kremlin and the beauty of democracy allowing people to express their grievances in public deserve to be honoured.
