Vampire Artist & Writer Exhibiting At Pershore Library

“Under A Halloween Moon”

This October will see something a little more haunting than usual in way of artwork at the Gallery of Pershore Library, as Midland’s Gothic Fantasy Artist Glenn James stages a show with a witching autumnal feel.

An exhibition of the artist’s haunting imagery runs between the 6th of October and the 3rd of November , and will feature three new drawings inspired by Halloween, which will see their premiere at the gallery.  The show also features a selection of Mr James’ popular “Skaler” drawings, including his well known illustration “DreamWalker”.

Mr. James, who lives in St. John’s in Worcester, is looking forward to the show;

“I suddenly realised that I have never drawn anything related to Halloween,” says the Artist, “and considering my influences and style, it seemed a shocking oversight!  It’s such a special time of year, something a little bit Pagan and scary, so it’s lovely to have the work on show across the Halloween period.  The three new drawings have something a little mischievous to say about the supernatural, and how the ancient forces of darkness might spend their All Hallows nowadays, so I hope people will enjoy the show.  It’s a really smashing gallery, too, with wonderful natural light, and a very experienced team in charge, so it’s going to be great fun.”

“There is a selection of my Skaler work included, and it feels lovely to have a solo show in Worcestershire.  My first ever piece was exhibited at Droitwich Library in 2004, and it’s come a long way since then, so it feels like coming home.”

The artist is the creator of the Pre Raphaelite Goth style of drawing, which he has developed since 1994, and this is his first solo exhibition in Worcestershire since Summer 2004.  The Skaler drawings, developed to illustrate Mr. Jame’s first novel, have been affectionately received.  He has exhibited work at The Giger Museum in Switzerland in 2006, then London’s Mall Galleries in April this year, and closer to home, as part of the Worcester Festival at the Pitt Studio and Gallery in August.

On the 9th of September he appeared on The Carl Chinn show on BBC Radio WM to discuss his work and to talk about the Exhibition.

Born in Edgbaston, Glenn James was raised in South West Birmingham and attended Bournville College of Art and Sutton College, before going on to Wolverhampton

University, where he graduated with a HND in Graphic Design. Glenn is 38 years old, and lives in St. John’s in Worcestershire with his wife Angela and their daughter Charlotte.

Mr. James will be giving a talk about his work, on the evening of 26th of October, in the gallery, between 6.30 and 7.30 in the evening.
