Keep Condoms Out of School

Keep Condoms Out of School

By SOP newswire

Today Pastor Bryan Longworth and other concerned citizens held "Keep Condoms Out of Schools" signs at Port St. Lucie Allapatta Flat K-8 School as 200 parents dropped off their children for school. Some parents expressed concern that their children saw the word condom. If the proposed graphic, explicit, risky Sex Ed Curriculum "Get Real About AIDS" is implemented, students may ask parents about anal sex!

Parents had a mixed reaction to today's Community Awareness Program. Many parents looked surprised. Others ignored the signs. Some parents gave thumbs up signs. A few parents complained that since their elementary age children saw signs with the word "Condom" on them, they now have to answer the question: "Mommy, what is a condom"? The fact is, however, with offensive material planned as early as 6th grade, St. Lucie County School Superintendent Michael Lannon proposes implementing "Get Real about AIDS" which includes graphic condom demonstrations and information about anal sex in St. Lucie County K-8 schools! Longworth asked, "What's going to happen if teachers start teaching about condoms in the classroom? If this is inappropriate information at a K-8 school (and I agree that it is), it's certainly inappropriate for teachers to teach this material to students. If this curriculum is approved, the subject matter will filter down to younger grades, and children may ask their parents: 'Mommy, what is anal sex'? Parents who are concerned about graphic, explicit, risky condom education should attend the Saint Lucie County School Board's Public Forum December 8, 2007 beginning at 9 am to peacefully voice their outrage!"

Pastor Bryan Longworth is the associate pastor of Covenant Tabernacle World Outreach Center in Port St. Lucie, FL, cofounder of Youth for America, and is part of a group of parents and concerned citizens that has gathered over 3,750 petitions in opposition to "Get Real about AIDS." Notes, video footage, and links from his October 12, 2006 press conference can be viewed at his church website. Petitions and information about the December 8 public forum can be found at http://www.SexEdFacts.com. Longworth recently recorded a 30 second PSA alerting parents of the December 8 forum, a copy of which can be heard at www.SexEdFacts.com. Longworth can be reached at 772-380-2111.
