Dutty Devioso "Up The Ante"

Dutty Devioso "Up The Ante"

By SOP newswire2

In the world, there have been gangsta rappers such as Ice Cube, Ice T, and Eminem, along side G-Rated rappers like the formerly Fresh Prince Will Smith.

And NOW, ballers are banging to Southern rap with a twist of Dutty Devioso.

Dutty Devioso was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  His music is based on a formula of his trials and tribulations in life combined with the trials and tribulations of those around him.  His songs reveal a cocktail of relevant issues and topics that affect him on a daily basis.

Success shouldn`t have been easy for a rapper that comes from a traditional family.  However, Dutty was raised without a father figure as well as suffering from a multitude of personal and professional setbacks from day one.  Still, rather than throwing in the towel, he saw them as opportunities for growth -- turning something bad into something good.  Dutty`s musical influences include Run-DMC, L.L. Cool J, and The Beastie Boys.

While attending Howard University on a football scholarship, he met with K.D. and Dj Pympwell of Groove Control Entertainment (G.C.E.) through a mutual friend, Chris Seldon.  Dutty began his career as "Foe-Real", but shortly changed his name to Lil D.V.S., due to the "Devious" connotation that his first recording provoked. Lil` D.V.S. was soon changed to Dutty Devioso, which is currently his official artist name.

His first release from G.C.E. was titled Resistance Is Futile, a 17-track LP that he called, "An attempt to find myself lyrically and musically".  Soon, he began to develop a following in his hometown Baton Rogue and surrounding areas, but then legal and psychological problems arose that almost threatened everything.

Dutty recently had a biopsy to remove a tumor from his brain -- unsure if he was ever going to rap again. The surgery left him with the inability to string together coherent sentences, let alone an award winning rap album.  But with God`s help, G.C.E.`s aid and support, along with his drive, he was able to get back on track and  still continues to improve as an artist with his "in your face" style that is called "Gritty Heartfelt Lyrics With A Class Tone".  His new album, Up The Ante, which is on sale now, has been stated as one of the most complete rap albums to be released in a long time.

From the United States to Australia, Dutty`s fan base continues to grow, as both he and Groove Control Entertainment are ready to conquer the entire world.
