Australian Teen Arrested For Wearing T-shirt Attacking Jesus Christ
In America we take freedom of speech for granted, we know that even blatantly offensive speech is protected by our Constitution.
But in some countries in Europe you can be arrested for making statements that are perceived as being anti-Muslim or anti-religion. But it`s not only in Europe where free speech is under attack, witness the following story dateline Australia:
"A GOLD Coast teenager who wore a T-shirt by English extreme metal band Cradle of Filth that reads `Jesus is a c**t` has been charged with offensive behaviour.
Above the offensive slogan a nun is depicted masturbating.
A 16-year-old was arrested on Monday for wearing the shirt and was charged with offensive behaviour under the Summary Offences Act 2005 for public nuisance."

There is no question that the young man`s T-shirt is vulgar, profane and insensitive, but he shouldn`t have been arrested. Are we going back to the Dark Ages when individuals were arrested and executed for blasphemy?
The teen`s T-shirt wasn`t advocating anarchy or the overthrow of the government, its fury was directed as Christianity. Since when is it the responsibility of a modern Western government to protect the Catholic Church from individuals who blaspheme?
The T-Shirt was by the metal band "Cradle of Filth", you can`t very well expect the shirt to be emblazoned with a smiley face.
I hope this type of attack on free speech doesn`t find its way to America. We should be free to ridicule Jesus Christ, Mohammad, Buddha or Tinky Winky.
