Should Muslim Lady Be Allowed To Wear Burkini In Public Swimming Pool?

By Robert Paul Reyes

"French officials have banned a Muslim woman from swimming in a public pool while wearing a swimsuit that covers her entire body.

The woman had swum in July in the pool in Emerainville, east of Paris, in the `burkini` - a loose-fitting garment resembling a wetsuit with a hood.

But staff stopped her from swimming in August, citing hygiene concerns.

It comes as the government examines ways to limit burka use after the president said they reduced dignity." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8197917.stm

Many American liberals are quick to condemn the hypocrisy and misogyny of evangelicals, but they fail to criticize the savagery of Islam.

I have written hundreds of articles (no exaggeration) chastising the likes of Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, but I have also condemned the blood-drenched religion of Islam.

I suspect it`s cowardice that prevents progressives from speaking out against the excesses of Islam. If you offend the sensibilities of a Roman Catholic or an evangelical, he will fire off an angry email. But if you upset a Muslim by exercising your right to free speech, there`s a chance he might kill you in the name of Allah.

French officials have every right in the world to ban the Muslim woman from swimming in a public pool while wearing a burkini. The loose-fitting outfit is a breeding ground for germs, and poses a risk to the health of the other swimmers.

This is an issue of public safety, and not a directive aimed against Islam. The Koran doesn`t instruct women to swim fully clothed, and burkinis aren`t even common is Islamic countries.

Americans often ridicule the French for being wishy-washy, but I applaud the French officials for taking a strong stance against this silly woman.
